Mantra: Om Sri Gaia

Location: 6 - 18 inches below the feet

The Earth Star Chakra is not part of the original chakra system it was only later that the system evolved as etheric and minor chakras were discovered. The origins of the earth star chakra are unclear due to the large body of knowledge that has accumulated. The origin is nearly impossible to define; It is described as being in the etheric body 6 - 18 inches below the feet, you will find that different texts describe different depths but considering how the field of our etheric body is unique for each of us, the range of depth makes sense.

The Earth Star Chakra serves as our energetic anchor to the heart of the Earth, stabilizing the entire chakra system through its deep connection to Gaia’s core. It forms a living bridge between our body and the planet’s pulse; allowing the Earth to draw away excess energy not only from our physical form but from the subtle layers of our aura as well.

Have you ever noticed moments when you seem to spark with static each time you touch a doorknob or an electronic device? Step outside, place your bare feet upon the soil, and feel the charge dissolve. What you’re witnessing is the physical echo of what this chakra does on an energetic level, balancing, grounding, and restoring harmony between your field and the living current of the Earth herself.

This chakra is what connects us to the collective of nature and planetary consciousness; some use it to connect to ancestral fields and deep earth wisdom, it acts as a natural cleanser when removing stagnant or psychic energy, shifting the negative energy for Gaia to transmute.

When this chakra is balanced it helps you feel less scattered, more connected to the earth.  It helps to feel more grounded in the moment and more secure in oneself, both emotionally and physically.

I am not a doctor, psychologist, or licensed healthcare professional. The information I share is intended for spiritual and educational purposes only and should never be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The sensations or symptoms often described as signs of chakra imbalance can also mirror those of legitimate medical conditions. If you are experiencing any persistent physical, emotional, or psychological symptoms, please seek guidance from a qualified healthcare provider to rule out any underlying medical concerns before attributing them to energetic causes.

Blocked:

  • Physical signs: Can include restlessness, fatigue that feels “untethered,” or even an unusual buildup of static electricity and electromagnetic sensitivity.

  • Emotionally: It may surface as anxiety, insecurity, or an unexplainable sense of not belonging.

  • Spiritually: A blocked earth chakra can also make it harder for doing higher frequency work. The energy may rise, but due to an insufficient anchor you may experience lightheadedness, over thinking, or burnout after meditation.

When the Earth Star Chakra is blocked, it often reveals itself as indifference, not the peaceful detachment of spiritual balance, but a quiet apathy toward the world. You may feel unmoved by the suffering of others or numb to the beauty of nature. There can be a sense of emotional exhaustion that turns into avoidance: world events feel too heavy to care about, so you disconnect. This isn’t emotional absence so much as energy that has withdrawn for protection. When the Earth Star Chakra is blocked, it can cause us to feel separated from life around us, though that distance is only the mind’s response to exhaustion.

Too Open:

If the Earth star chakra is to open your energetic boundaries with the collective and with Gaia can begin to blur. The empathy that connects us to our humanity can become emotional absorption and we start carrying the grief of the world within ourselves. This can lead to emotional dysregulation in the form of depression, overwhelm, rage, hate etc. We as individuals we were never meant to shoulder the burden of the woes of the world. This overwhelm can cause compassion fatigue and prevent us from being able to create meaningful change.

The most important thing we can do for ourselves is to rebalance the flow of energy this chakra receives. You can do this by grounding your compassion into stability and moderate the amount of information you are taking in to limit the level of overwhelm. Get outside and take in some fresh air and spend some time with your loved ones. Look for sources of good news, the type that highlights the amazingness of humanity because it isn’t all bad. There is still an amazing side to existence we simply don’t see that side because we have been trained to focus on all the negative. Once you have rebalanced this chakra you can then effect change in the world if that’s what you choose to do.

Meditation:

How I use this chakra to ground:

I love this brief meditation because it works beautifully; it’s simple, grounding, and effective, even if you’ve never meditated before. I often use it whenever I feel stressed but can’t step away from what I’m doing. In my experience, it’s best practiced while standing or sitting with your feet firmly on the floor.

You can linger as long as need at any point of this meditation, the only rush is how much time you have available at the moment and how long it may take you to tune into and really feel the stability.

  • Focus on the soles of your feet (even if you are wearing shoes)

  • Feel how they rest against the floor, notice the texture beneath you. Is the surface firm and smooth, or soft and plush? Does it feel cool, or perhaps warm? Maybe it began cool, slowly warming as it absorbs your energy.

  • As you are focusing on your soles notice how the ground beneath you pushes back against you, solid and supporting.

  • Take a deep breath expanding your abdomen as you inhale and feel the ground beneath you pulling you down toward it removing the weight of your stress, and as you breath out feel the stability beneath your feet rise into your legs, up through your back along your shoulders supporting you so that you may relax. Do this as many times as you need to before moving on with your day.

      My personal experience:

For most of my life this chakra has been open to the point of personal harm. I spent most of my life overwhelmed and unable to cope with the inhumanity of humanity. A lot of the remedies listed as a way to rebalance are things I have done in the past. I still implement these strategies in my life today to maintain balance and emotional health. I have found my balance exists in knowing what is happening in my areas of concern, but when I start to feel overwhelmed and too emotional, I will change my focus. Once I have calmed down, I revisit the issue to evaluate if there is anything I can do to help the issue. It is always easier to do this once I have processed my emotions. Doing this allows me to think clearly and logically, allowing me to focus my energy on places where I can create change as opposed to acting erratically and possibly wasting my energy and my time.

One of the things I absolutely love about this chakra is my ability to ground down with it. Whenever I struggle to stay in the present moment, I use this chakra to return to it.
